6:30am 2nd Annual Draw-a-thon Commences

Amazing Art-o-mat opens, with a Real Live Artist inside! Coffee, free-drawing warm-ups.

 

8:00-12:00pm "The Drawing Room" where every surface is covered in paper. Various exciting

 family activities with Laura Richens and Susan Gisleson: Drawn to Green, Line King,You Are Here.

 

12:00 – 2:00pm Micro Comix Making

Local comix artist Caesar Meadows will teach match-book sized comic book construction.

 

12:00 – 2:00 Tasty Catfish Po-boys by local non-profit Camp Marigny. Bring $!

 

1:00 – 3:00pm Courtney Egan and Kourtney Keller Honor Filmmaker Helen Hill

with a workshop using some of her simple hand-painted filmmaking techniques. Later in the evening, filmstrips will be projected. Music by Alex McMurray.

 

2:00 – 4:00pm Gesture Drawing Collage come explore drawing and perspective beyondtraditional form and surface with NOCCA|Riverfront visual arts program: Ashley Teamer & Tracey Bullington.

 

3:00– 5:00pm  Making an Impression Times-Picayune illustrator Kenny Harrison will demonstrate printmaking techniques using reconstruction materials.

 

5:00 – 9:00pm Delicious food by The Que Crawl, pulled pork, smoked brisket, marinated vegetables and goat cheese quesadillas, grit fries, collared greens and more! Bring $!

 

6:00- 8:00pm  Sketch the band: music by Dixon Ticonderoga

     featuring Joe Cabral, Doug Garrison, Anthony Cuccia, Dan Oestreicher

 

8:00 – 9:00pm Iron Draughtsmen, mc’d by Brad Benischek. Test your skills and creative agility with mystery ingredients. Celebrity judges! Dramatic music by Helen Gillet.

 

10:00 -12:00am Speed Drawing with Drill Sgt. Gary Oaks. Capture the dynamic nature of the human figure in under-a-minute drawing sprints. Live models!

 

12:00 -2:00am Samoan Mouth-painting with graphic artist Tim Phillips.

 

2:00 – 5:00am “Werewolf in the Toilet” Absurdist drawing games til dawn!

 

5:00 -6:30am Celebratory Pancake Breakfast & Mimosas& Inventory!

 

ALSO: Guest Appearances by Local Artists, a special tribute to the King of Swaziland, films on art-making, and other on-going activities.
