DRAWATHON SCHEDULE

All drawing materials will be provided. 

Free coffee and Hubigs pies!! There will be food available for purchase  from Vintage Cafe for lunch, delicious items served from an early model trailer and a $6 catfish dinner from Camp Marigny, a non-profit that raises money to buy tools to gut houses in the 9th Ward.

6:30a.m.    1st Annual Drawathon Commences

 Coffee & a slap in the face.  Warm up exercises, general preparation and set-up including installation of the Amazing Art-o-mat! a machine with a Real Live Artist Inside!  He'll draw any request!  Machine will be operating for 24 hours straight!

9:00 a.m. - noon    Kid's Time

The kid's activities will take place in "The Drawing Room", an environment in which every surface is covered in paper for them to draw on. 
Laura Richens (Curator of The Carroll Gallery, Newcomb Art Department)  and Susan Gisleson (Country Day Creative Arts instructor) will teach basic drawing techniques. The drawings the kids create will then be  placed in a crankie, an old time manual 'televison' assembled from recyclable materials.

9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.     NOCCA Faculty Jeff Becker
Working alongside NOCCA students, create still lifes using materials from the Green Project under the instruction of Jeff Becker.

12:00 -3:00 p.m.        Miniature Comix  Making
Dennis Millett (aka Ceasar Meadows) will teach match book sized comic book construction.

3:00 - 6:00 p.m.    Rags, Rakes & Rollers

Times Picayune illustrator Kenny Harrison will demonstrate different techniques using various materials.

6:00 - 9:00 p.m.    Drawing with Impossible Instruments
Demonstrating three important aspect of art: compostion, value and line, graphic artist Tim Phillips instructs the use of drawing with sticks, wine, coffee, burnt matter and anything else he can get his hands on. 

7:00 p.m.        Gina Phillip's Wah Wah Ponies Band
Hear and sketch artist Gina Phillips and her rockin band.

10:00 - 12:00 p.m.    Sensory Depravation Drawing
 "Catching Him in Pieces" set designer Jeff Becker has created a contraption that eliminates sight, sound and touch in order to focus on the mental side of drawing.

12:00 - 2:00 a.m.    Painted Alive
Body painting artist Craig Tracy will teach and demonstrate his art on live models.

2:00 - 5:00  a.m.    Circles
Under scenic artist Brad Benischek, explore negative & positive space using shoe polish, powdered graphite and wax.

5:00 a.m  - 6:30 a.m.  Draw Your Own Breakfast and Eat Pancakes by the Railroad Tracks
